Galapagos Pelikano cruise by Mike and Donna

So, 4 nights and 5 days in the famous wildlife haven of Galapagos. Where do I start?

Thinking back about all the memories of this amazing trip has got me wondering how on earth I would fit everything in to just one or even two blogs? The constant wonder of seeing animals we had never seen before, the landscape and beautiful waters of the islands we visited, and the fun we had with both the people on the trip, and the crew aboard the Pelikano. All these things are buzzing round my…

Galapagos is the place to get away from it all

Escaping from everyday life and winding down is so easy to do in the Galapagos Islands. Actually, it's nearly impossible not to forget about the rest of the world.

From the moment you land in Quito or Guayaquil, you will experience a more laid back pace and will be invited to slow down.

By the time you arrive in Galapagos, you have stepped back in time to a place where the earth is almost untouched by humans. You have entered a dream in which you swim with penguins, sharks…

Planning Galapagos trip mid-later April 2011

Looking for a small boat cruise of at least 8 days, incl., snorkeling and perhaps even diving. There will be probably 4 -8 of us at least. We arent looking for luxury but comfort, good food, great guides and a super overall experience exploring the islands and seas around. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. I would think we could get some sort of group rate. Any input is appreciated.

Darwin on my shoulder or what is that animal?

The flight over from th emainland of Equador was uneventful. Our magic silver bird, usually called an jet airplane flew down out of the clouds into the islands. From the air the land is the color of red and black and brown, some green. Arriving at the airport we shuffled through without problems, paid our fees and were off. 45 minutes later we are on the boat Archapel II and underway. Wow that was fast. But early afternoon we make a dry,as opposed to get-your-shoes-wet landing.

On the Journey I

This was an amazing experience, a cruise in the Galapagos Islands on the Journey I, not to many people get to go on a cruise let alone in such an amazing place.

It was amazing landing at such a small airport getting off the plane and feeling the tropical weather hit you in an instant.

Passing through the airport took a bit sorting our paperwork paying the park fee but after that it was all fun and…

I have recently arrived back from the Galapagos Islands, and cannot stop telling people how much I love it. It is like no other place in the world, there is something so unique about here. Maybe it's the different landscapes in close proximity, or the plethora of animals who act more like humans, whatever it is I know Galapagos is somewhere I will return to again and again.…

DAY 1: Plazas Island

Plazas was great, we got off the Journey I and into a small speed boat to take us to land. My first Galapagos encounter was as brilliant as I could have imagined…we were greeted with sea lions and land iguanas EVERYWHERE. It was just incredible I have never seen anything like it in my life! The sea lions were all led out sunbathing on the rocks and some of the younger ones were playing in the sea, we walked a bit further into land and there were just hundreds of land iguanas sunbathing on… Continue
